What account types are available for NRIs and PIOs with Firstock?
Firstock offers three main account types for NRIs and PIOs:
A. PIS Account (Portfolio Investment Scheme) – NRE or NRO linked
- Requires an RBI permission letter via a partner bank (HDFC Bank).
- Can be funded from NRE or NRO accounts.
- Suitable for regulatory-compliant investments under RBI PIS rules.
- Supports trading in Equity and potentially F&O (with Custodial Participant Code).
B. Non-PIS Account – NRO linked only
- Does not require RBI approval.
- Funded only through NRO bank accounts.
- Offers a simpler setup with fewer restrictions and lower compliance costs.
- Recommended for NRIs who prefer a hassle-free experience.
C. Joint Account (Demat only)
- The NRI must be the primary holder.
- A resident Indian can be the joint holder, with limited rights.
- All joint holders must complete IPV and submit relevant KYC documents.
