What documents are required to open an NRO demat account with Firstock

To open an NRO (Non-Resident Ordinary) demat account with Firstock, you will need to provide the following documents:

  • PAN card copy
  • Proof of Indian address (any one): latest 3 months bank statement, passport, driving license, or Aadhaar card
  • Proof of foreign address (any one): latest 3 months foreign bank statement, water bill, broadband bill, rental agreement, or electricity bill
  • Passport copy with immigration page (valid for at least six months)
  • Valid visa copy
  • Bank proof (any one): bank statement, cancelled cheque, or passbook showing account number, IFSC code, and account holder name
  • Recent 6 Months Bank statement (Required for F&O Segment activation only)

Yes, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) are allowed to hold shares in India. This can happen in the following ways
  • Shares received as a gift from a resident or another NRI
  • Shares purchased while the individual was a Resident Indian, before becoming an NRI
  • Shares acquired through permitted equity investments as per RBI and SEBI regulations
If you need to transfer or manage these shares, ensure your demat account is updated to NRI status and complies with RBI guidelines
No, Firstock does not provide PIS (Portfolio Investment Scheme) demat accounts for NRIs. Currently, we do not support opening or maintaining PIS demat accounts.
