What is Demat Debit and Pledge Instruction (DDPI)?
Demat Debit and Pledge Instruction (DDPI) is a document that allows Firstock to debit securities from a client’s demat account and deliver them to the exchange. Once the DDPI is submitted, clients do not need to enter the CDSL T-PIN and OTP to sell shares.
SEBI introduced DDPI through a regulatory circular, restricting brokers from debiting shares unless the client places a sell order. DDPI replaced POA (Power of Attorney) on November 19, 2022.
